Hi all the last few days my door lock seems to be getting hard to lock. When the door is locked and u unlock it its fine but when you want to lock to it wont move and after a few sec of moving it left and right he locks. Can anyone help me with this problm
-
with key or remote?
-
Sorry with key as my car dont have a remote
-
Guessing microswitches in the motor. Apparently these can be cleaned/replaced, but probably easier to do entire motor
-
Do all omegas have remotes just that i only have a aftermarket key so maybe the owner/s before me lost it

All the normal ones do, but yours seems to be a very poverty spec one. Does it have central locking?
-
Yes it does it have central locking :y
-
If i buy a remote with the central locking ecu would this work using a remote :y

Ah, fook me, this will be a really early Omega, won't it? So if it did have remote locking, it would be IR...
-

-

Is there any dome around the mirror, or panel where sunroof switch would be if you have one?
-
Dont really know if it helps mate..but i worked with a guy who had a M reg 8v,he had no remote locking just the old style laser keys, i think he eventually got an aftermarket alarm with interface to get remote locking,
Sounds like you actuator on the door is collapsing inside, used to happen regularly with Senator's,Carlton's etc......used to feel like you were going to snap the key when trying to lock it.......
I assume it will be more or less the same set up....
-
whats a actuator on the door also how much would they be
-
If you take the door card off and look at the back of the handle you will see the unit for the lock etc, replace it with another one, usually a trip to your local breakers would be your best bet....
-
Ok mate nice one :y

I used to have a 'poverty spec' 1995 M reg 8v select - certainly did have remote locking (infared). That said, you had to stand so close to the bloody car it was as easy to use the key ;D
