Title: Engine Temperature
Post by: Proz on 11 February 2009, 19:00:04
My engine temp gauge only goes up to between 80-85 ... i thought it should be a bit higher .... is this normal or could this be the problem causing my constant fuel trim issue ( P0170 ).

Thanks

Facelifts generally sit 80 - 85 then the fans cut it back.  As long as the needle is below half way all should be normal...

Dont think it will affect fuel trim but M_DTM or others may well know better....

Guage numbers are different between pre and facelift.  80 on a facelift shows as 90 on a prefacelift for the same needle deflection.  As long as the needle is below half way(ish) thats fine....   ;)

Damn ... was hoping it would have been the cause of the fuel trim  :y

I must admit its always been in that area 80-85 but maybe my imagination or the cold weather but does seem to be a bit slower to heat up.

some sensors on the car give error codes for them only if they are complete dead.. but up to that point they mess up the system..

I just dont really want to start throwing money at it changing parts if its not going to solve the problem. :-/
