My engine temp gauge only goes up to between 80-85 ... i thought it should be a bit higher .... is this normal or could this be the problem causing my constant fuel trim issue ( P0170 ).
Thanks

That what mine sits at mate :y
-
Facelifts generally sit 80 - 85 then the fans cut it back. As long as the needle is below half way all should be normal...
Dont think it will affect fuel trim but M_DTM or others may well know better....
-
mine stayed at 80-85 before I changed the thermostat .. :D
now 92-95..
-
What about pre-facelifts? Mine sits at 90 ish all the time.
Sorry to hijack! ::)

Guage numbers are different between pre and facelift. 80 on a facelift shows as 90 on a prefacelift for the same needle deflection. As long as the needle is below half way(ish) thats fine.... ;)

Damn ... was hoping it would have been the cause of the fuel trim :y

I must admit its always been in that area 80-85 but maybe my imagination or the cold weather but does seem to be a bit slower to heat up.
-
not sure but coolant temp.sensor may cause that code..
-
Yeah i thought it might but im just hoping i get a more specific code other than the fuel trim P0170 one day :y

some sensors on the car give error codes for them only if they are complete dead.. but up to that point they mess up the system..

I just dont really want to start throwing money at it changing parts if its not going to solve the problem. :-/
