Change the ATF if mileage is 60k or more. If low miles, check ATF level. While you`re under there might pay to have the selector switch off gearbox and give it a good clean with contact switch spray cleaner :y

there is a haynes manual but as it sounds like the switch you wont need it, just remove the nut on the shaft & the 2x 10mm bolts holding the switch in oplace, then remove the torx screws around the edge of the switch & clean out with switch cleaner, the switch is adjustable on the 10mm bolts so you may have to play about a little to get the desired setting :y

Have a look at the above link. The Haynes manual doesn`t cover the facelift range but most of the info will relate :y

All lights on is selector switch. Over £200 new, so try one of the breakers on this site - should get one for around £20-£30 delivered :)

A full ATF change won't do any harm either, though thats not your problem :y

thanks for all of the help I haven't been able to get out untill today because of the snow. I went to get some contact cleaner and on the way the maintenance light and traction control light came on,but they've now gone out again I'm guessing as a result of a dodgy switch, is it worth trying to take it apart and clean it or should I cut to the chase and replace it. Also with regards to the atf fluid is it just a case of draining it the re-filling until it begins to run out of the filler hole.
Thanks

Andy

definately clean the switch out as it aint a long job & will save you hunting one down, you might want to check that the nylon hole that goes over the selector shaft isnt cracked as that can cause problems, as for doing the atf it would also be worthwhile if you dont know if its ever been done, when you refill the box then yes you fill it til it starts coming back out but remember the engine must be running when you do this :y
