Hi all,
I've still got a problem with my heater :(. It won't give any heat since i reset it after refitting battery.
When i switch off the ignition you get 2 -- in the heat temp.windows on the pass/driver's sides.
I've been told by one garage that they will look at it for £50 to start + £? for whatever they find wrong and to fix :o :(.
I don't really want to pay out that sort of money(£50)just to be told they can't find the problem >:(.
Is there anything i can check myself to find the problem as it was fine before and after replacing the battery and only went t*ts up after i reset it ::).
I can't afford to pour money down the drain with a garage whilst being no better off than i am now :(.
As i say all the ECC seems to work apart from getting no heat :-? and it's Bl**dy coooooold out there :(.
Any suggestions gratefully received :y.

Try resetting it again (hold on & auto buttons in for 5 secs), I have had differing results with the ing.. on or with the engine running- runs of vac pressure I belive, so may be worth trying after you start the car.
-
Thanks Al but have tried it all ways but still no heat :(.
What actually controls the ECC system, i mean is there a control box somewhere that can be removed and looked at. The garage mentioned something about dry joints, so assume he meant on a PCB :question.
-
Hi, sorry, I am sure you knew to try resetting it again. I just know that I have had the -- showing on the display and it took a few atempts to clear it. Anything can break at any time, but I doubt changing the battery caused a fault other than needing to reset the cc.
Like I said, mine took several attempts to get it to clear.
-
Thanks again Al, I'll just persevere and hope it resets properly :).
Cheers,
Pete :y.

Has anyone else got any ideas as to why my heater is not working properly or had the same problem and sorted it out :question.
Thanks,
Pete :).
-
no joy then Pete?
Can you describe what happens during the reset? Maybe a mobile video(sound will be important) or similar? How long does it take start to finish? Just wondering if its running out of vacume supply before its finished its cycle?
-
Hi Chris, It just makes whirring noises like motors turning, don't really know how else to describe it :-/.
-
I lost heat to the drivers side a few weeks ago, tried the reset several times but no difference, turns out it was the arm of the servo motor in the footwell, worth looking at, but it wont explain no heat, are you getting anything from any of the vents?

Hi Chris,
Everything about the heating system seems to works as it should except there's no heat :(.

Hi Chris,

So are you saying that the fans are working at all speeds but it`s blowing cold air through all the vents :question
-
Yes Rob, fans work fine but only cold air comes out of all vents no matter what temp. is set to :(
-
Silly question time. Do the matrix pipes in the driver`s footwell both get hot. :question
-
I've not checked them yet, will do the next time i warm it up and get back to you :y
-
Just some points on my findings as I had no heat till yesterday, may be of no use to your situation though. The heater bypass valve allows hot water to the matrix with No vacuum, [ vacuum turns it off ] my heater pipes were luke warm, I flushed the matrix & reconnected the pipe from the heater bypass valve & had a flow through the matrix but on reconnection of the other pipe it still would not work. I then put a hose onto the return pipe & flushed through to the expansion tank [ top off ] , reconnected & all was hot. ;D :y Seems I had an air lock or blockage on the return.
Strange thing is I had my battery disconnected recently to do the dis pack??
-
I'm willing to give anything a try at this point to be honest as it's no fun driving in this weather without heat :(.
Thanks,
Pete.

Did you manage to check the matrix pipes Pete :question

Did you manage to check the matrix pipes Pete :question
No Rob, going to do it tomorrow as I've got a few other parts to fit which i received from LK(Daz)today and might as well freeze my whotsits off all in one go :(.
Will hopefully be able to tell you tomorrow night :y.
-
OK At least if they`re cold the problem`s solved :)
-
Did you manage to check the matrix pipes Pete :question
Update on my heater problem.
I've checked the pipes going in and out of the matrix as well as the HBV and they are all HOT. All the vac. pipes are attached and all seems as it should be :).
After warming up the engine i put the heater to the auto position and as before no heat :(, but whilst sitting there scratching me bonce i felt the air coming out of the N/S windscreen vent and it was lovely and HOT as was the N/S dash vent :) but the D/S was still stone COLD :(.
I got out of the car to talk to a neighbour for a minute and when i got back in, yes you guessed it no bl**dy heat again >:(.
I tried resetting it for the umpteenth time but with no success and i finally gave in to the sub-zero temperature and called it a day :'(.
Any ideas or the next step to take will be much appreciated.
Pete.

What about disconnecting the battery again ?
But this time not reseting the ECC, before checking the heat

I must admit i didn't try that, so will give it a go :y Thanks.

i am also suffering from the no heat syndrome. i have a facelift model w reg.
it has been like it since i baught my omega. i thought doing a whole coolant change and flushing the system would do the trick, but still no joy. my heaters are set on high and if im lucky i get the slightest mid of mild heat. but thats about it. most of the time it bows out cold.
-
If the heater matrix has been cleaned out, HBV changed, all vacuum pipes checked.....Could this be a Climate Control ECU problem?
-
As said above Daz, all pipes are attached and matrix pipes hot.
This initially started after i replaced the battery after a recharge and thought I'd reset it even though it was working fine(heat). Yes i know should have left well alone :-X.
After the reset it would only blow cold and the 2 -- were showing in the temp. windows after switching the ignition off :(.
-
I have same fault, No heat to drivers side. Where is this "arm off the servo motor" is it easy to locate ?? Heat does emit from the rear passenger driver side vent ,and adjusts with temp change. : :P
-

I tried this today but still everything working except no heat ::).
After i replaced the battery lead i could once again operate temp. for both sides using the D/S up and down buttons but still getting 2 -- in the temp. windows when ignition switched off :(.
-
have you flushed the matrix ???
-
Two thoughts here:
1) Has one or both fo teh actuator arms for the heat blend flap popped off (info in the maintenance guides on this)
2) Has the climate panel been remvoed and if so is the left hand plug fully inseretd.

you defo got clogged mattrix take pipes off and flush it both ways, sometimes its a sighn of a weep from oil cooler!!

To answer your ?s Mark, 1: No idea but will have a look and 2: Yes it has been removed and replaced in my ownership so will check this as well :y.
Thanks for your suggestions,
Pete :).

I had the same problem after changing the timing belt and water pump. No head was advised by someone on here to take the lid off the expansion tank and let the engine and heater run on high setting. Worked a treat airlock in Matrix was the cause. Worth a try.
