Post by: blue_dream on 13 February 2009, 10:36:14
Hi guys
Replacing the cambelt on my 1998 25 v6 and notice in the bible (haynes manuel) that you should replace the water pump bolts and also angle torque the power steering pump pulley three times!!
    Is this right.
The bolts are the same, what is the diffenents , i reused the water pump bolts but added thread lock and torque them up, the pulley just torque up.  :-?

No need to replace but, loctite is recommended on the water pump (I torque to 12Nm)

The power steering pulley bolts are normaly torx items....25Nm I seem to recall (but could be 20Nm)

Could you answer another question for me, have mange to slip the cambelt whlist installing a new one, please forgive me, my first time  :-[, crankshaft marking out by a quater on a turn, lineing marks have now gone, would it be ok to take belt of again, relign cambelt marks and crankshaft mark, reinstall
What would this do, i don't think this would cause any trouble but felt to ask before, i have decide to call it a day before i put a hammer through it  :(
