3.2 from say a FWD Vectra...
What would be needed (parts) to convert it to RWD??
I've already got plenum, inlet, bagpipes, ecu, loom...
Guessing also:
Sump pan
Metal coolant hose (from rear of engine)
Cam covers
Flywheel & torque converters (fitting to an automatic)
Anything else??
-
Mega bucks for the chassis conversion.
-
i think he means putting a 3.2 from a veccy into an Omega, so no need for chassis mods
-
Paul speak to JayW, he put a FWD 2.6 from a Veccy in his Omega...

Yup :) Hence why saying convert a FWD from a Vectra to RWD config for the Omega :)
I'll PM Jay W :y

I thought you meant converting a Vectra to RWD! - Can be done, just costs a lot, and takes a lot of time, and costs a lot, and needs a lot of effort, oh and costs a lot! ;D
Like Omegatoy says, I think the oil pickups are different too IIRC. :y
-
This is something I'd thought vaguely about, I think given the cost of getting the separate parts, you (and me) are better off waiting for a 3.2 Omega engine to come along...
-
True ;D tbh though most parts I have, and ones I don't are easy enough to get from breakers cheap enough :)
-
Well I now have a 3.2 engine from a Vectra ;D

parts required:
Sump(s)
Oil pick up
Engine mounts
Inlet and exhaust manifolds complete
Water transfer pipe.
Engine wiring loom
Dipstick tube and dipstick
Flexplate and torque convertor
All the RWD engine ancillaries (starter alternator etc)
Basically we sat both engines together and swapped the lot over bit by bit
-
I should be able to source most of those bits easy enough :)
I guess then the thermostat housing & pipe which comes out the front is the same then??

Am I right in thinking most of these can be taken from the 2.6 in (ish) my car? If so, I may have just sorted my engine supply problem...

Well I've got most of these from a 3ltr so can't see why a 2.6 would be any different if your doing a facelift one :)
