Hey folks - I've had a search for this in the forum but can't find it - so apologies if its cropped up before (I'm sure it has)
Anyway - got a "Check Automatic Gearbox" warning on the display, all the selector lights lit up and car drove like it was stuck in 4th, consulted manual which says just drive the car, selecting gears manually and take it to VX to diagnose.
Anyone had this experience? Is it an easy fix?
Cheers :y :y
failing that - anyone want a 2001 3.0 elite? ;D

Classic selector switch problem, either change switch or remove and clean. You should still be able to select gears manually. It defaults to 3rd gear when the switch fails.
New switches from Vx are around £120 :-(

yup its the selector switch, as weds says just drop the switch, take off cover & give it a good clean with switch cleaner :y

cool - thanks guys :y

Selector. If you can get one from Vx for £120 I'd be surprised. Add anothe £100 to that.
2nd hand is an option IF its a known good one

Had exactly the same problem crop up myself yesterday.
Fault yesterday afternoon
No fault last night
No fault setting off this morning
Stopped at the newsagent, left car running in 'P'
Setting off again shwed fault.
It's in for springs tommorow so i'll ask them if they can do the switch too.
