Just to let you know...
Chap at work has a very nice 2.5V6 Vectra (one of the MSD ones) and after a stat failure he decided he'd best to the cambelt at the same time (it was a little overdue..).
After several hours and skinned knuckles he started it up - and after 10 minutes a light rattling noise ensued. A tensioner had failed...had he just driven it to work this morning he wouldn't have been driving it home tonight..
Only echoes what everyone else says on here - change the whole lot!

Absolutely - simply not worth the risk of a 'belt only' change.
-
I believe I'm right in saying that Vaux reduced the recommended miles between belt changes from 80k to 40k because of a series of failed tensionersnot because of the belts themselves...its the tensioners that are more prone to early failure

Spooky that 'cos Haynes (Omega 1994 to 1999) says they improved it from 40k to 80k or 8 years. Page 2C.8

ALL V6 Omegas are 40,000 miles or 4 years which ever comes first.
I broke a lovely Elite with 66,000 miles on it because the cambelt had snapped due to the tensioner failing. I would replace the cam kit asap and not use the car until it had been replaced.
