Just been to WIM for Geo setup - blimey its miles better now (nice one tony) and it was only done in May last year. Bloody potholes and speedbumps have a lot to answer for !.
While there they found one of the rear springs was missing about 1/2" off the end, So I need to replace the rear springs.
I like the current setup , nice and comfy for the long motorway journeys so should I just go for OEM vauxhall springs ? Are they on TC (I've got a card) or do I have to pay the retail price, and any idea how much they are?
I guess the alternative would be eibachs ? Are they similar in price , would i need to change all 4 if going this route and what would that do to the ride quality and handling ?
I think most of this has been covered before but I did a search and couldnt find all the answers so apologies if this is covered elsewhere..
Cheers for any help !

vx springs are extortionate, mv6 fronts are over 300 a pair.
Mr dtm has recommended kyb in the past...
-
Self leveling suspension is the issue as it utilises a slightly softer spring compound then the standard ones.
About 200+ vat a pair.

I have just fitted standard springs with my SL shocks and, so far, haven't noticed anything untoward... Perhaps a slight sharpening of the rear end but not entirely sure :-/ :-/ :-/
I'll keep people up to date with any developments in the future :y :y :y

my 2.5v6 has just failed the mot and needs rear springs. Problem is the guy made a few phone calls and has been told that , with this car, has had problem with cheaper springs giving poor ride and excessive noise. Hes been quoted £285 plus vat for vx genuine springs which seems over the top. I got 2 new front tyres and tracking done elsewhere just and , altho feller there said he'd heard of poor ride problems due to fit of cheaper springs, said that as I dont use car for towing that couldnt see problem with KYB springs at about £85 each fitted. Dont want to bugger the ride up but havent really got the money for vx ones. Any advice guys?? :-/

Have enquired at vx re mv6 suspension for mine.
As my rear end issues may be down to old front shocks and springs. It appears sl was an option on the mv6? And shares the same sl part numbers with the elite. I take is this means i can fit front mv6 front shocks and springs and reset the rear sl side hight? (the rear sl and springs are new and dont want to loose the option.)
Sorry for hijack.

Now the weather has improved a bit, I am going to have a look at my rear suspension including looking for missing bits of springs. I had new VX S/L shockers three years ago and suspect they are shot again. I do quite a bit of heavy load carrying and towing a small trailer.
I don't really want to go to the expense of VX springs if aftermarket none s/l springs will work satifactorily. I will follow the thread with interest especially as lazydocker has done this with his car.

Have gone for the cheaper KYB springs (apparantly they do 2 that fit, have gone for the dearer pair at £85 each fitted) rather than the VX ones. Will get them done Thursday and let you know how ride is then,

i bought a new set of rear springs last year for my 2.2 dti elite 2003 they were £ 260.68 plus £ 75.20 fitting , can't remember if they are trade club or not and can't find my tc book to confirm, regards mike

just had the kyb rear springs fitted at £170 and handling seems fine, if a bit stiffer. When I spoke to the fitter he reckoned the shocks werent self levellers tho, but I thought these were standard on the cdx, or if they were, maybe mine had had them replaced with standard shocks at some point? :-/

self leveling is not standard on cdx, only Elite

Robbing gits!
So that was a 100 quid labour for an hours job!

No, I had a choice of 2 kyb springs and opted for the dearer ones at £85 each fitted as opposed to the cheaper ones at about £45 each fitted. In comparison to the £285 plus vat I was quoted for the vx ones elsewhere that seemed reasonable! have used them for years tho only for tyres and exhausts in the past and never been "done" . They recently fitted a front/back/middle exhaust I'd sourced for the emina for £55 and that included some adjustments they had to make so labour costs whilst not cheap, arent totally ott either.

KYB only make two types of rear spring for the Omega and they are both the same price.....
.....one type for the estate and one for the saloon

Right... Slight update!
Yesterday had a chance and conditions where I could safely stretch the legs and test limits of the new rear springs. Bearing in mind I live in the sticks so roads aren't fantastic at this time of year so were a bit muddy and slippery but...
I can say with absolute confidence that the standard saloon springs haven't affected my handling in any bad way... The back feels very slightly more sure footed (I think) but nothing really noticeable :y :y :y

Fitted model-specific Kilen coils on mine at £70 plus vat for the pair.
No issues or complaints!

Don't think you've got self levelling suspension though :-/ :-/ :-? :-?
We're trying to determine the effects of fitting standard road springs with s/l shocks :y :y :y

You're correct, no S/L on mine, but fitted with Monroe ride-levellers.

Just had mine done. Had basic aftermarket springs fitted. £61.56+tax for a pair. £60 labour, though he did rear pads and a few other checks too. Customer service at Phillip Welch, spot on as usual.
I'm a pretty steady driver and don't do many miles so I didn't see the point in spending more than I need to. Besides, I need to save my money for Elite Pete & Loo knee's beer fund this weekend. :P

Mark,
Will have to look into this, like I said, never felt that Ive been done by them before but youve certainly given me food for thought!! :( >:(.Was there when he was on the phone to his supplier, so maybe he was being done too? Whatever, from what you say, seems I have been robbed of my hard earned. Will have to make better use of the knowledge and advice to be found on here first before I spend in the future!!
