Title: Front passenger door problem
Post by: uktigger on 19 February 2009, 18:46:51
I have a problem with my central locking on my 2003 CD saloon.

Opened the car as usual this morning without any problem and drove off with my passenger.
Went to leave the car and front passenger door wouldn't open. The button on the door was down and wouldn't come up no matter what we did. Passenger ended up climbing out the drivers door !

When using the remote for the central locking, the button looks like it's trying to come up and unlock, but something seems to be stopping it, as it is moving slightly.

The problem is that, I assume to get at the mechanism inside, the door panel inside needs to come off, but can this be removed with the door closed, and if not....anyone got any suggestions.

Regards

Steve

Happens to mine on a regular basis been told its the solonoid. Prise off the fitting around button and a good spray into it with WD40 should do the trick.

I would NOT use WD40 ... that is a water dispersant in a solvent carrier .. the solvent can screw plastics up very quickly ... a decent light oil ( 3-in-1 ?? ) would be better IMHO

If you put the wee attached straw on the can you can spray it directly into the hole. has never done any damage to my door.

Thanks very much guys - a squirt in the hole (so to speak) did the trick.

I can now use the passenger door again  ;D
