Title: Rear Brakes noise?
Post by: lou on 20 February 2009, 23:11:41
Ever since I have changed my rear brake pads and not with Vx pads ( no shims on the back) I have noticed a clicking or rattle when I first apply the brakes, there after nothing until I drive and brake again (not always) and this can only be heard with the window down. Any ideas? Is it just the pads rattling without their shims? or something else?

The handbrake seems fine as far as I am aware, only about 4-5 clicks to lock the car...it just seems strange this clicking noise sometimes when i hit the break for the first time...

Hmmmm ........
Come to think of it mine does the same thing - a 'clicking' can be heard (with the window open) with footbrake application, especially so when in a traffic queue. To date, I've not found anything wrong after thorough investigation either.
Handbrake shoes - they are independent of footbrake operation, and simply lock to the drum portion of the disc when the handbrake is applied.
