Title: omega has no power
Post by: blue_dream on 20 February 2009, 20:29:33
Good evening
Can some please help, replace cambelt on my omega due to possible tooth jump because she would not fire no fault codes listed, cambelt timing fine but looked bad so replace belt and tensioners and waterpump, turned over and ran after replacement, the next day the eml light on check codes by paper test codes 74 and 31, change crank sencer for code 31, unable to tell what 74 means, have replaced air flow meter about a year ago so that should be fine.
Car will run and drive but when you floor the pedal the  car struggles, or about to stall, like weak mixture !!!
I hope someone can help this car is becoming a pain and expensive and its needed to get to work.  :(

Code 31 simply means no signal from crank sensor...most likely you did the test with the engine off...19 is crank sensor failure...

Sounds like possible airleak...although 74 is MAF sensor

Have you got oil in the plug wells?

Check all elec and vac connections ok.

Was new crank sensor genuine Vx?

Definitely worth checking carefully all of the vacuum connections. In particular have a look underneath the rubber connectors where the black plastic tube goes in. I had one that evaded finding at the back of the engine that operates the rear multi ram. It looked fine from above!

Hi guys
1998 2.5 v6 ,Yes checked all vac pipes that i removed and cannot see anything wrong, cranksencer was NOT vaux, but it must be ok, car starts and drives but its just when you need to floor the pedal to pull off it thinks about it, temp gauge fine, everthing else fine, once driving duel carriage car drives fine, its like the car is running lean.   :-/
