Title: Engine Fault light
Post by: martctb on 24 February 2009, 21:02:58
I just can't get my fault light to stay off, Have the code read and comes up with 1-3-5 misfire, so i have changed the coil pack changed the spark plus and renewed the rocker gaskets. After changing the parts the light stayed off till the car  got warm then it came back on again with the same problem any ideas

Which engine?

If it' a 1, 3, 5 misfire I'm presume either 2.6 or 3.2?

EDIT: Beat me too it!

Any cracks on the dispack?

2.6 / 3.2 don't have DIS pack .... coil-per-plug set up .. :(

All I can suggest is to remove the whole CPP unit that side and check for any damage/cracking/burning on it and the wires leading to it.

That's what I meant, the 2.6/3.2 whatever-pack failure mode is usually down to a breakdown of the insulator material allowing moisture to get in.

Dispack / cpp is essentially the same thing in technical terms as they are both 'Distributerless Ignition Systems'

Any possibility of airleaks, eg the o rings under plenum not seated correctly?

Might be worth checking the coolant temperature sensor is OK as if the engine is getting warm but the ECU is getting a signal saying it's still cold it may be 'over fueling' still.

Doesn't really explain why only one side though.

As Entwood said, it would be worth checking the wiring going to the pack on that side.

OK, may be worth reseating the main injection connector at back of injector rail
