Title: Cutting out when warm...
Post by: Darth Loo-knee on 24 February 2009, 16:13:32
The crank sensor is putting no codes up, so I have put a spare on and still it is the same.
Not all the time, but alot it cuts out when warm. seems to go well when cold....

Any thoughts guys and gals?

Not necessarily. Some codes are not thrown until the part is totally goosed. Wouldn`t hurt to check that it`s not stuck. Might need a good clean

Does eml work properly.

If it was a 2nd hand sensor, have you got a 3rd on to try?

Haven't got another spare to try.. the one that is on the car isn't to old and with my spare crank sensor on the car is no different.
There is no codes at all.
The car ticks over lovely just as soon as it gets warm it will cut out and wont start until it cools... but it doesn't do it all the time weird >:(

If you let it idle to reach operating temperature will it then cut out or is it only when you`re driving :question

When it cuts out again, check if there is a spark to plug, could well be crank sensor or dis breaking down when hot

Does it just cut, even at above idle revs? Or is it dying due to lumpy idle?

Even at above idle revs? If so, I'll stick with my original diagnosis.

Just had one of those moments of doubt.

Check the engine earths, and also fuel pump relay.
