can anyone help my omega elite s reg 2.5 v6 auto car won't turn over to start, the car was running brilliantly no trouble other morning went to turn the engine on and just would not turn over, someone said it could be either the sensors or coil may have gone ,or the key is faulty and that the immobiliser is stopping it from starting up if this is the case are they expensive to have repaired??
-
If its not turning over at all then i would start with the battery first.
-
just had a new battery fitted in Nov 08

But is the engine turning over when you try and start it?????
If not then the battery could be flat.
-
Yep... Just because the battery is new(ish) doesn't mean it isn't flat!
If it's not turning over at all then the battery is the first port of call... Almost all the other potential problems would still let it crank over :y :y :y
-
yeah it is making a noise but just doesn't spark up if i keep trying the lights go dim and the turning noise goes slower and slower has if it's been drained.
-
Where in the country are you Anna.
Any lights on the dash?
Turn the headlights on and get someone to look at them - do they dim when you turn the key to crank?
Any clicking noises when cranking?

That means the Battery is definitely flat... May not be the root cause of the problem but it certainly wont help :y :y :y
Try a jump start first, if it's still turning over and not firing then we'll start with other possibles :y :y :y
Oh... And where are you based? If you can update your profile you wont get lots of questions asked :y :y :y

You never know, you may be local to a member - and many of us have booster packs / chargers / multimeters :P

Once you have recharged the battery and it still wont start we then need to do a paperclip test.
There is a good 'how too' in the Maintenance section ;)
-
the lights on the dash all come on as normal when I turn the key the engine is turning over but not sparking up, I tried to jump start the car and this did not work either.

Run the paperclip test described, you're looking for a code 19....

Ok Anna.
Well you now need to do a paperclip test as i said above.
Have a look in the maintenance section and have a read.
Then post up your codes and we can hopefully help further.

Just to help you out... Here's the link to the how to for the paperclip test :y :y :y
