Title: V6 Roar !
Post by: duggs on 22 February 2009, 15:55:03
Is it just me OR does the V6 sound amazing when you floor her.

I only have the 2.5 but at the cost of a gallon of fuel she beats just about everyone away from the lights...and wow...what a great, great noise.

Better when you put a twin pipe rear box on from a 3.0 and a panel filter.

but then wy stop there, the irmscher backbox is even better  :)

IF I can find a twin back box, is it simply a case of swapping it over with the existing single pipe exit one.

Then again, I drove my Westfield from Aviemore to Alton with no packing in the exhaust back in September. The novelty wore off by about Kingussie. Glad we had ear defenders.

whats the legal point of view if i were to remove the back box altogether?i would still have the two cats and two middle boxes and i was thinking of,as mentioned earlier, just two polished straight pipes instead of the backbox.anyone done this before?what about back pressure etc?thanks

I was thinking of getting rid of the backbox on my 3.0 elite & having through pipes instead. wonder how it would sound with a pair of cherry bombs on the back?  :-?

will a 3litre back box fit on a 2.5 as the hangers are different
or do you have to modify the hangers

2.5 v6

cherry bombs on omega? clearly not my cup of tea but what ever floats your boat.
Irmscher rear twin box and middle silencer taken out, now that sounds impressive combined with a panel filter, as induction filters dont like my omega for some reason, me think it will probably sucking too much heat in from the engine bay.

I have been running a remus twin piped back box on my 2.5 fro about a year with standard gm exhaust mid and front pipes..on tick over just a low warble, but when floored it sounds like the clips attached..pretty amazing for a family saloon.(well not really, family).but thats what I tell them.

Where can one get straight-through pipes to replace the mid silencers? Do they have to be custom made? Any recommendations or ideas of price? The baffles have gone in mine so will need replacements sooner or later.

Not sre if they are still available new..bought mine off fleabay, guy had it in his garage and never fitted it..I paid £125=00,but I am a tough negotiator..he wanted £150=00,which for the sound alone was actually worth it.

Did a search and found a link to remus uk.

Remus Exhausts_RemusUK.com......part number is 627094 0548 and the price for either the 2.5 or 3.0 is £385=25 inc vat..so lots of ££££,s but sweet sound and all chrome.

i can get a complete stainless steel system for that price :y

Told you they were pricey...think a stainless full system would be better anyway,as the Remus mod is only the tail pipes and rear box.

I'd be surprised if a standard twin pipe back box sounded any different - thought that was just cosmetic.
