Post by: djdaveyp85 on 28 February 2009, 14:31:59

I wouldn't! :o :o :-X :-X

It is not worth the risk of damaging your engine for the sake of waiting one day! :y :y

What tools do you need? You managed to get the old stuff out, sorry but I am confused, although there has to be an OOF'er near you who could help. Please explain, and don't drive anywhere! :-/

Nut on the end, or a 3/8in wrench goes straight in.

Cartridge replacement filter not canister.

Well I think I had the dodgiest mechanic in the world do my oil cooler! That oil is definitly older than 3000 miles! Anybody got any ideas of a punishment for invoicing for services not done. Especially seen as though my oil cooler is leaking again ( i think!)

Still need to change the filter. Might sound stupid but my adjustable spanner packed in and i didn't realise til after i'd dropped the oil. So its got a "kind of" oil change lol.

Seems to have made my noisy tappit a bit quieter as well so bonus. Next time i'll do it with the right tools!

Also managed to flush out my coolant system and i'm going to drive to york and back tonight and see if my oil cooler is leaking or if it was just oil oil from before the cooler was done. Finger crossed!

That tends to split the end of the casing....

The other problem that could be experienced after using a flushing additive is low oil pressure.
Caused by crud blocking the oil pump strainer.

It's far better to do regular oil changes than flush the engine, especially if has done a lot of miles.
