Hi all iv just notice that my car seems to be lacking in power.Do you think that the pipes could be blocked up with crappy old oil
-
I'm not an expert on Omegas, but in general engine terms I think if they're not being lubricated properly they'll still work right up to the moment one of the conrods comes through the side of the block. I had a Hillman Hunter many years ago which suffered oil starvation and it worked fine, plenty of power, until the banging from the shredded big end bearings became too much for me to stand. Similarly my Dad had a Mk 2 Granada which suddenly lost its drive to the oil pump. First indication he had that something was wrong was when the engine seized solid, never to run again, but up until that moment it was fine.
If it's seriously down on power could it be the EMS? I know on the Mk 3 Granadas if there's a problem they drop into a very low power state so you can at least get home. It's called LOS, which Ford think stands for Limited Operation Strategy but which is generally regarded as meaning "Limp 'Ome Slowly".

Is it revving past 4500rpm? If not then the cam sensor will need replacement plus check for any codes that maybe stored.

yeh it revs right up 2 the red line in each gear.I`ll have a look for codes 2moro

yeah, check papirclip test, good idea..
Then remove the heatshield on the exhaust manifold and look for leaks, either by cracked manifold or broken stud.
Perhaps it is a good idea to have a professional checking the timing also?
These faults would not result in fault code, would they...?
I have same problem, but no fault code. Im currently working on the exhaust issue, both cracked manifold and broken stud...hope this will solve it..

Would not faulty DIS pack result in a fault code...?
