I think thats about £350 to much. The mini facelift is so much better and you should get a decent one for £800 ;)

Even with those miles they want too much money imho but you should be able to squeeze them hard at the moment.

Can't help on the auto box, only ever had manual migs  :)

Read and understand this link .....

If the light does NOT come on when it should .. walk away .. it's probably been removed to hide a fault. If it does work, do the test and think about any results... (might be worth taking a printout)

If the seller will not allow you to do the test .. also walk away... he's hiding something.

Check that the cam belt + tensioners have been done ... they are due every 40,000 miles .. the tensioners are more important than the belt !!!

Honestly, hammer them hard.  Remember it's a 13 year old gas guzzler to most people - hardly what folks want at the moment (except those in the know!)  Take £500 cash tops, refuse to budge and I reckon you'll leave with it  :y

If there is no written evidence of a cambelt and tensioner change, then cost for one asap.

the only way for definite is .... do it yourself. :y

I would hold out for a mini facelift, they have better headlights, Bose stereo, side airbags, Irmscher front grill and rear spoiler ;)

Prices are funny like that, bear in mind the age and there really is no "Book price", these cars are worth what you are prepared to pay.  ::)

Nige's Irmscher bumper distracts you from the Astra G styled bonnet though. I particularly like the curved swage line across preface lift cars' bonnets. :y

went and looked at the car and it was a rough one, plus there was what looked like cream cheese under the oil cap it was about 2 inches thick and coated all the pipe too! no smell of exhaust in the headder though?
they would not shift from 700 so i ran away would not have given 500!

ive upped my budget and am thinking of this
http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/images.action?R=200910329946302&channel=CARS&adcategory=&largeId=875400627

had a word with the guy and i think i could get him down to around 800!

yep, you can! I bought an old golf off a mate for £250 then put the plate on ebay and sold it for £650!!

a form from dvla is all you need to get cracking and claw back some money  ;)
