To add to my smorgasbord of fun, my handbrake seized on (I know, schoolboy error, leaving it on instead of chocking the wheels... ::))
After a bunch of swearing, and the help of a handy 4x4, got it out of the garage onto the drive, and jacked up the back end. I'd noticed some drips on the floor last time I was in, but not thought much of it. Now, having got underneath, I can see liquid over the exhaust, bottom of the diff, and the surrounding areas.
It's crystallised (white) in most places, but has an orange tint where it's still fluid - is this the colour of the diff fluid, some other liquid, or is it picking up the colour of the rust from the exhaust?
I'll get some photos as soon as I've charged my camera... :y

Yeah diff oil is red...seal on the front of the diff tends to leak when the seal goes...

Yes I believe thats the one!! Getting the diff off is pretty straight forward to repair but dont know whats involved with replacing seal
