Is it cranking?
-
yes but very slowly !!!!
-
Are you sure the battery is charged? If it is Check the earth starp on the front of the engine.
-
yes but very slowly !!!!
battery low :-/
timing out :-/
-
i have checked the timing and all marks are lined up,
battery on charge all night ,
i have put my hand on the starter and tyhe noise seems to be from there ,
what about the code i got ,i think 15 ???? :y
-
15 relates to the coolant temp. sensor :)
-
thats the one under the coil pack , which slides on the little round thing ? :y
or the above it ?

Right, a lot of things would have been disturbed while changing the gasket. Give it the once over, make sure everything is connected. My money is on the earth strap :y

Correct :y

is it manual or auto
just a thought stick it in gear and give it a push just to move the engine over a bit
or give the starter a smack :y
-
did not touch that , which goes to the front of engine , left all in place , just took battery off , :y

just seems slow when turning and the clicking def from starter ! thats why i think its the starter , :y
-
give the starter a smack
might be a bit stuck
-
just try running a jump lead from the battery to the starter
put the ignition on and just touch the live terminal of the starter
justa thought

Could simply be battery lead not on properly.

ok i'll let you off on that one
try the battery terminal first
it might be as simpal as that
is sounds like there is not enough power going to the starter which would indicate the battery or the terminal

i shall do , start from the top and work down !,, i get carried away on cars and loose track of time !
i once started stripping my engine down at 20:30 untill the head was off ! how mad was that ! and it was outside and in november
lol :y
-
right then , i have changed the starter as seems to be knocking from there , checked the earth straps ,
i have tried to stsrt it but still no look and there is still a knocking noise ,
seems only once complete turn of the engine ,
did not do it when i used a spanner to check the timing ,
i need all your help please as im not really happy at the moment >:(
thanks :y

Could possibly be the starter solenoid, just a coincidence its gone now.

thanks , got it started , check the other thread good news everyone :y

I would go for Battery low charge not enough juice to start making soleniod make and break, go for earth strap cheaper.
And please let us know
