Bonnet switch is the common favourite. It gets bent over as you work and as the bonnet warms up in the sun etc it flexes & comes off the switch. Try bending the bracket back upright or unplugging it completely as a test.

thanks will give it a try :) :y

Welcome Coco. The other possibility is the alarm sounder, this has it's own batteries, and when they start to die, the alarm is activated. You either replace the batteries, or leave it disconnected. Hope this helps. ::)

when i disconected the sounder it went tonto any other ideas :y

Have you ever heard 4 little "bleeps" as you switch the engine off ??
If so it is the Power sounder batteries as this is an indication that they are low on charge... the first sign of failing batteries .. :(
-
have you tried as Andy said? if its randomly going off it problably is the bonnett switch!
-
it makes the bleep sounds sometimes how do you replace the batteries

You have to cut the box open, and solder new ones in ... there was a forum member offerinmg to do this .. can't remember who though.
The other options are to remove and leave off, or to buy a new one from VX ... I don't know the price ... mine is sitting in the kitchen until I get around to doing something with it !!
Just as an aside .... if you leave a knackered powersounder in and connected, on RARE occasions it has been known for the batteries to leak, the acid then corrodes the internals, which can short and catch fire ....... has happened to a couple of members...
so either fix or unplug .... IMHO
