Title: EXHUAST BACK BOX
Post by: leevaux on 08 March 2009, 16:17:17
Hi All

I have a 2.6 Elite Saloon 2002 and it has a single pipe coming out the back when i was watching one of the many police programs you get on all the channels i think it was car wars the police were using omegas and one had gone into a ditch and the back was up in the air and it had a twin  back box which looked better than mine is mine wrong? should it be a twin? ;)

my 2.5 only has 1 back box where my 3.0 has 2.  thinks its just asthetics. might be wrong though

2.5 is only supposed to have one, even the later minifacelift 2.5 elites had a single pipe, The elites are meant to have twin pipes for more flow, fitting the twin pipe box to a 2.5 seems to give better response and sounds alot nicer aswell.

something around  £30-40 difference in price when buying a new one.

What about the OP question, he has a 2.6 elite so should it have twin pipes or not :-?

Single outlet I afraid. Should be able to fit a twin outlet though as they are the same fittment.

Here's what I have heard, read and learned:

Single outlet for 2,5/2,6
Twin outlet for 3,0/3,2
Sedan differs from estate.
No other differences.

mine has a twin tail pipe

so that mean mine was changed by previous owner

i followed a 3 litre today from the daughters school and the twin tail pipes looked alot bigger than what was on mine :-/

Hmm there are no bumper cut outs on omegas ive never seen a Prefacelift with any! only Irmscher rear bumpers have cutouts

Twin B/B sounds better on a 3.0 as it gets a resonating effect around 3k rpm sounds lovely

Vauxhall must like doing this because a CDX V6 veccy is single pipe whilst SRi /GSi Varients are twin pipes

try this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-Omega-B-3-0-1994-2001-Exhaust-Rear-Silencer_W0QQitemZ190217308189QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item190217308189&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1689%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

put one on my dads 3.0  18 mths ago and its fine still looks as good as new
sounds a bit throatier than standard though
