Hi All :)
Bit of advice needed please i was hoping to get an elite 2001 model last week from a trader. He put it in for MOT it failed on the ABS sender unit or sensor unit i forget which now he doesnt want to pay for a new one which i can understand as hes not asking to much for the car against my rover 75. He also has a 2002 MV6 which he did have up for a bit more but said he,ll keep to agreed price we had for the elite. He said it has same kit as elite part from the sat-nav. Can any of you who has/had elite/mv6 tell me if hes right or is there a big difference in equipment level
Ta muchly :)

Elite has all the kit but has softer suspention with self level
Seats are fully electric but not the sports type.
Has rear elctric blind
16" rims unless is the facelift
CCRT700 stero with phone and carin sat nav
MV6 has 17" wheels
Stiffer suspention but not sure if it self levels
No Sat nav
Probably more difference but cant remember them at this time in the morning

I have an Elite and love it. The MV6 is the sportier/stiffer version. Think Elite is leather as standard and non leather as option. MV6 I think the Leather recaro's were the option over standard recaro's
-
Elites drive like barges MV6's are alot less bargey
Theyre the same spec really! MV6 is 45MM lower
id personally have the MV6 it has better seats if there leather the seats are nice supportive & comfy + the MV6 keeps your thighs warm :y :y also has better handling
only draw back with the MV6 are that the 235 45 17 W tyres are not cheap!
If its a prefacelift then i wouldnt worry about not having sat-nav CARin isnt as good as a TomTom nor is it as fast i also find it very outdated!
btw all Leather omegas have recaro seats i noticed in a scrappy that standard leather elite seats are also recaro's

He did say the mv6 has full leather and i agree bout sat-nav my rover has it built in i have the 2007 disc but it has no post code support so i have a tomtom which as you say is better. Also the mv6 is 2.6 lump and group 14 according to my insurers so will be bout £70 a year cheaper to insure and a couple of miles per more to the Gallon, so i,ll have a look at it.
I,ll keep you updated when i get it looking forward to swopping the rover in. There is an mv6 estate car on autotrader all white full police spec lol bet if someone bought that and sat in it wearing white shirt with dark eppauletes scare a few on the motorway.

From what I've seen, not all MV6's have Recaros. Elite seats are different from MV6 Recaros in that they don't have a seperate movable under thigh section and are fully electric with memory. MV6 IIRC just go up & down electrically :-/
As for suspension ... that's up to you. Do you like hard suspension ....then go for the MV6 If you like a softer ride ..... go for the Elite. One isn't better than the other, just what you prefer.
If it were me, I'd look out for a 3.0 there's bugger all difference in consumption between any of the V6's

Genuine Elites have the same tyres so be careful !!

As said, Elite more gadgets and higher trim level, MV6 stiff/lowered suspension and sports seats. BTW all Omega seats are Recaros, though different models...
What are the engine sizes? The 2001 might be 3.0, which means it was regsitered after 03/2001, and much lower Road Tax....
Also, is it ex-cop? many ex-plod cars were listed in the V5 as Elite etc but in many cases the cop spec is NOT the same as normal cars.
But other than the Elite vs. Vx issue, how are the cars otherwise, i.e. general condition inside out, mileage, service history....?

At facelift level, MV6 is nearer CD trim level, so loses out on CD Changer (it has single slot player), satnav, blind, full leccy seats, cruise, autodip mirrors, rear heated setas.

If its ex-plod MV6, it is missing everything - very, very basic spec.

Ex-Plod is basically GLS spec inside - mechanically based on Elite/MV6 - so listed on the V5 as such (also listed as Automatic when they are all Manual too...)

No idea what the V5 said, but I've driven a white auto ex-plod Omega. :-? :y

Generally below GLS spec, but there are variations.
Loads of them are autos ;)

My facelift Elite does not have Sat Nav. Can't think it's been taken out either.

Thought all the 3.0/3.2 Elites had it from 1998 (CARiN prefacelift, Siemens Facelift)
