It should be mot fail if the airbag light is on at the time of the test.
-
Did you take anything off that would cause the light to come on? If so just take to the garage and get them to turn it off or if you live near one of the Admi team you can ask them to do it.

no air bag or S R S (secondary restraint system) warning light will not fail an mot would be worth checking conections under the front seats try unplugging then plugging back in but make sure ignition is off and key in your pocket first :y

Why would it fail MOT if the airbag warning light is on at the time of the test?
Mine has just gone through MOT with it on and so has the wife's. Can't be bothered to get them reprogrammed.
Airbags are not tested on MOT.

from what i understand if there is any sort of warning light on the dash
then it will be an instate fail
-
Have you moved the drivers or passengers seat recently after it's been in the same position for a while?
-
Airbag is not mentioned in the MOT test.... and the fact that with the airbag light on the seatbelt pre-tensioners won't work is not an issue either .. as it specifically says that the pretensioners not working is not a reason to fail.
I cannot find any mention of warning lights as a fail issue other than the ABS light check.

with the airbag light on
your airbags and seat belt tensioners won't work in a result of a accident
which will be possibly dangerous to the people in the car
to me still should be a fail

Good job you're not an MOT tester then! ;)
I put my Astra through a test with the air bag light on a couple of years ago, he never even mentioned it.
SRS is NOT part of a test.

need a code reader to find out whats wrong, and to reset it.
srs not mot failure

You need a code reader of some sort to talk to the car and to reset it when fixed. Your light will stay on till reset even if the fault is fixed.
-
only an ABS light on is a fail!
you need to get on a Tech 2 or a cheapo tech 2 to read the airbag codes
usually the sensors be careful though dont go playing with any of the airbag system until the battery has been disconnected for 30mins to discharge the capacitors

Ive added an elite leather interior. Has side airbags etc same as the cloth I taken out. Lights been on since then but none of airbags have been deployed all still intact. Is this the reason it needs resetting?? I just thought I could plug it all in as a replacement!! :'( :'(

Did you turn ign on with the airbags unplugged? If so, give yourself a slap on the wrist, and put it down to a lessen learnt...
-
Yes afraid so. I did put the ignition on with them unplugged so I could stupidly listen to the radio. Have I done any lasting damage? I have slapped myself on the wrists lol!!
