Title: oil leak??
Post by: mick-1975 on 11 March 2009, 15:03:22
  hi all ,
i have noticed i have a oil leak on the exhaust side ,
it is running by thye breather tube , so i have replaced the gasket , head gasket is ok as not long done and all is dry ,

i have had a look and seems to be coming from the back of the engine near the coil pack bracket  , can this be true??
, if so is the best way to remove by taking the front scuttle of under screen for easy access ??
would i need to use any sort of gasket glue when re-fitting ,
thanks mick  :y

are you sure its not leaking at the back of the gasket? run your finger along the cam cover edge right at the back, see if its weaping.....

Not a lot else leaks oil around there, could be water mixing with oil? Is the HBV dry?

most likely is the camcover seal.  Try pulling the plug leads and looking inside - if there is oil, that's your culprit.

its not an issue with on ok (or you would have a tidal wave of oil).
But they tend to fail if the breathers are blocked (go hard /start leaking).

Plug wells is a good tell tale.

i cleaned all the breathers out so that can be iliminated<
, plugs wells are all good and dry
it does leak pretty bad , so now smokes off the block when running
