Title: V6 Rocker gaskets and cam belts
Post by: mark p m on 12 March 2009, 13:29:41
The two old favourites! I will be getting both done shortly for my 1996 2.5 CDX auto which is really fine apart from smoke from under the bonnet, very annoying.
Does anyone have to hand the GM part numbers for the cam belts kit and the rocker cover gaskets (plus the black? sealant I will need?). Have I missed anything else I'll need?

Can't help you with the cam belt kit, apart from saying you do need the full kit with tensioners plus a water pump whilst you are at it, but the rest is:

090511451  Seals/ cam cover gasket (x2)

090411826 'O' ring gaskets / seals (You need 16 of these)

090485251 Black Sealant

Apart from these you need much patience when dealing with fitting the passenger side bank gasket!!

All the best :y :y

I bought 2 x Contitech cam belt kits from http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/timing-belt-kit-vauxhall.php?pageNum_Recordset1=17&totalRows_Recordset1=313

Contitech are Vx supplier and these much cheaper than Vx even on TC!

Arrived quickly, good quality - both fitted last August.

The part no I have quoted above gives you the cam cover gaskets for one bank, thus you require the two of them as I show ;)
