Post by: marbles1980 on 10 March 2009, 12:24:59
I have been told that the ecu for the gear box can be re-flashed. Is there anyone anywhere close by that can help with this please as it is really becoming a pain in A*s.

It has an apparently common problem.

I found in the wet and especially around hilly roads It gets confused, throws a fit and then can't decide what gear it wants to be between 3rd/4th/OD It was recommended by a fellow member that a possible Gearbox ECU flash may be required and there are a few people here that are able

cheers

A gearbox ecu flash is only possible on post 1998 cars.

We have no Tech2's near you, Either myself or Kevin Wood are closest.

I'll be at Newent in Sept for the Newent meet if that helps

Hi TB

The last digit of the VIN is 2 but it begins with W.
As the gear box was a replacement from an MV6 would this make a difference?

Ignore the last numbers and work backwards thro VIN to last letter - it will be a V or a W :y

if flashing is the same as an update then yes it does make a difference, as does the climate update. However i did not experience the symptoms you describe in the first place, so cant be sure... Have you serviced the box atf and all that?

No not sure what you mean. I'm a bit new to the omega's!
The box was changed before I bought the car but there was a receipt saying removed from 199? mv6 with 7*,*** miles on the clock.
