Title: Mayo in oil filler neck
Post by: Bumbazor on 15 March 2009, 12:21:41
Doing some routine stuff now weather is nice and I found loads of Mayo in the oil filler neck. What else ahould I check and what migjt be the cause? Sorry for not searching but I'm using phone outside and it's a pain to use the Internet.

Also I think my coolant is drainig somewhere. I topped it up last weekend and now it's down an inch below level.

Could they be related?

it happens alot on the v6 if you do lots of short runs and its very damp weather.
not always a problem.
check the oil on the dip stick for a better idea of whats happening mate.
Hows the water ?

you can do a pressure test
and check for any leaks that way

Took the time to clean breather tubes which had a bit of mayo in I didn't see when I did cam cover gaskets, also cleaned every bit I took off. I cleaned out that flat black thing on top of plenum and I noticed one of the pin sized holes in the round bit that shoves into the topside of the plenum was blocked.
It all got a good clean and now it sounds a lot better so I'm pleased with that.

Now how do I do the pressure test on the cooling system? Is it as simple as connecting a hose to something?
