Title: Exhaust - How do I find the leak >:(
Post by: DanielF on 15 March 2009, 19:18:31
Hi guys!

After fixing a new flex-joint on the exhaust and replacing a broken stud on the manifold there is still a leak. It sounds like it's between the cat and the manifold. Any good tips on how to find it?
Thanks!
Daniel

Thanks!
I'll try that tomorow, but I'm afraid that it might be under the heatshield... It is possible to cut it off? Looks like it's spot-welded on. (The heatshield around the pipe that is)

yeah cut it off carefully so you can at least pop a self tapping screw to hold it back on or even a hose clamp thing

Try a smoke bomb.

the smoke bomb you can or used to be able to get from diy stores in the gas supply section

drop it in the back of the exhaust and block the tail pipe with a big rag so no smoke can get out and should fill the exhaust with smoke and in theory should come out the part of the exhaust thats leaking
