Title: h.b.v query
Post by: mig v6 on 18 March 2009, 16:07:21
Could anybody help.Just a query really, the h.b.v in my 2.5 v6 may be a fault, have had coolant flush + matrix, when driving, temp sits around 92ish but raises quickly when in slow traffic or when stopped, have poor heat through inside of car + seems highly pressurized on coolant bottle + no water seems to be leaking.Could a faulty h.b.v raise temp of engine or not.CHEERS ;D

Sounds more like an 'air lock'. With the engine cold run it with the screw cap off the expansion tank, then squeeze the 'top hose' a few times, it should releave the 'air'.
If the HBV fails you loose fluid in varying amounts, sometimes just a drop each week, sometimes all of it at one go !!!!

Yes it will if you have an air lock in the system. Also what does your temp gauge read when driving down the motorway? If it goes below 90 and sits just above the 0 then this could be your thermostat thats is staying open.
