Have you checked the cold start heater plugs ?

where are they on the engine thanks guys

I,m having similar problems as yourself . Put new heat plugs on mine ,also put new leakoff pipes on . (about a month ago) OK for a while ,but has gone back to poor starting .I got very low on diesel so I,m hoping it,s only tank sludge impeding fuel delivery . THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION - The inlet manifold and some plastic has to be removed to obtain access to the heatplugs.

I seem to recall there being a relay involved in the fuel circuit...can cause the pump to stop working iirc...
