Title: hbv question
Post by: bigtow on 22 March 2009, 19:44:56
What actualy fails in the hbv I reasntly had the oil cooler fail on my 98 mv6 got that fixed by a star member of the oof thanks rob . But now I have to run with the heater on hi all the time other wise I get a coolent level warning on the dash and a oily smell comming into the car ( still trying to get the last of the oill out of the cooing system) I am guessing the hbv has failed and is leaking oily coolent when in operation ie bipassing heater when set to a lower tempture does this sound like the hbv to you guys ?

Look for leaks from the back of the driver's side cylinder head with the heater at varying settings. Costs around £30 and takes around an to fit it. :y
