Just wondered if anyone had came across any TC issues before.
Mines has an intermitant fault where by the car thinks its loosing traction and cuts the traction control in permanently, as you can imagine this makes the car undriveable.
I think its more an electrical issues rather than mechnical as its not a constant fault.
The first time it did this it cleared itself after being sat for a few days. TC light stayed on, but car drove fine, and eventually the light went out. It drove fine for a good 3-4,000miles. Then last week whilst out driving, I stopped, was out the car for 10min, started the car again light came on isntantly and as previous car was barely driveable.
Again it was left for a day or so as I got it arranged to take into work to be looked at. However it started fine with no light, so took it for a drive 15miles later it happened again so the car has been left at work.
We;ve carried out checks on it, but as we dont have a dwell tester we have been left a little stumped until we can get one to carry out further checks. Anyone any ideas?

Yip they sure do, unfortunately part of the TIS diagnostic steps it requires this. As Jesus was a boy last time we had to use a dwell tester we no longer have one.

I work for a Vauxhall dealer so have tech2, unfortunatly the codes on Tech2 arent definitive as to what the problem is which is why we are having to carry out further checks. Its not a problem we;ve came across before either with the Omega which is why our guys are slightly stumped. Indications are its either the main ecu or ABS ecu but its not definitive at the moment. :(

I have seen this on one other Omega before. TC would cut in as soon as you pull away. >:( Eventually it obviously decided something was wrong and the TC light came on, then the car drove OK.
I had a look at the car and it appeared that the ABS sensor wiring had been hacked about. I'm not sure how or if it was resolved in the end.

Ok .....is the TC & Traction warning lamps lit when its playing up.
Have you pulled the fuse out if so what happened.
What codes showed up when you tested it on Tech 2.
Lastly when it plays up can you hear what sounds like a machine gun under the bonnet

When it happens the TC light comes on and stays on.
Havent pulled the fuse as yet, although I may give this a try tonight
Tech2 codes, tbh Im unsure but can check in the morning when the guys are back in.
When it plays up there is a noise, tbh. I thought it sounded like the car was running on 3 cylinders

The noise is quite rappid, if so it could ABS modulator kicking in but dont condem the module it could have a rogue signal.

the noise only comes when the it gets really bad, its not there constantly when it happens. When it does come its at the point where the car is about to cut out.

Just thought Id update this, its been narrowed down (hopefully) to either the ABS control unit or main ECU. Managed to get a dwell tester so fingers crossed should have a definitive answer by tomorow.

Went to carry out further checks again on Friday, but the car started fine & the ecu has cleared itself of codes. Now need to take it out and get the fault to re-occure so that the checks can be done again. Joy.

Fault has been traced to a faulty ABS control unit.
