144 is Immobiliser no signal. either the chip is out of the key or the receiver is knackered at a guess. Can't remember if the receiver is a ring round the barrel, if it is it could have slipped back.

Depends on the cause really, if it's something daft like the ring slipping or the chip has dropped out. Can't imagine a complete ECU/Immob swop out to be much fun but not to expensive from a breaker.

it can be that the ecu has forgotten what signal the key has and needs re programming on tech 2, i've had that before on a vectra. took about 10min and it was done

I am sure I always had 144 on my V6, I was told it was normal because the car is not immobilised when you do the test   ::)

i have had that code for more than 2 years with no problems so don,t worry about it, it is probably an old stored code

It's ok saying don't worry about it but if you re-read Kev's original post it does say non-runner so I'd say it was something to worry about ;D Check the chip is still in the key as a first off :y

Had this on my ex-plod after replacing ecu.  In the end required complete ecu/immob/receiver-ring set (from same car) off ebay.

£50 delivered.
