Good evening everyone,
i'm after some advice really. I'm going to do a cam belt change and also change the discs and pads all around. I will also be doing the oil and filters. i was really after what cam kit to get and also what brake stuff to get. if anyone has some part numbers i would be grateful. I'll be at my dads doing this so if anyone is in Lincoln over the weekend and can offer some advice and support i'll be eternally grateful.

HI mate
Go to Suttons off Newark Road, behind Maccy D's for good prices.
Paid £13 for our water pump from them, and cambelt kit should be around £90.
I think our Cambelt was a GATES one which seems to be a well known make, no need to go genuine unless you want to

You must NOT get pattern cam belt kit. Gates & Contitech are Vx OEM suppliers and either are OK.
£90 seems high for cam belt kit - check out https://sslrelay.com/buypartsby.co.uk/timing-belt-kit-info.php?recordID=6714 - Contitech £54 + VAT!!! :y

Sorry I didnt know Gates were OEM suppliers.........

OEM suppliers are Original Equipment Suppliers to Vauxhall and are therefore generally OK. I was picking up on your comment no need to go genuine . . .
Bad advice - pattern kits should not be trusted on an engine that will self destruct if belt or tensioner goes!!
You were lucky you bought a Gates kit :y

Just because a company supplies GM, doesn't mean that they supply the same items to the motor factor channel, usually its inferior parts. Gates and Contitech are fine though :y

mine was fitted with a pattern one - a memeber of this club said it was OK; do I need another change?
