The management light on my 3.2 elite came on when driving home last week. No change in engine performance and no apparent fault. Stayed on for a couple of days so disconected the battery for 10 mins, reconnected and now fine. Have ran the car for around 100 miles since and light stayed off.
Car is 2002 with 52k miles.
Any comments welcome.
Thanks.

have a look at the link below, if there are any trouble codes stored the car will tell you via the pedal trick.(not the paper clip test that for older cars)

Might be the pre cat code by the sound of it, if its still present after the battery disconnect. Anyway, see what you got and post the results, hth. :-)

Thanks. I will try it today and post result. Cheers.

your welcome, should add it will only read engine ecu., which is fine for your purposes.
Others such as abs and gearbox ecu need a reader such as tech II or other less capable diagnostic tool.
Welcome to oof by the way. :-)

Had the same issue with my car a on friday last week, the EML light came on for the whole day, but the light have been off since saturday....unfortunatelyitis a 2.2 and needs a code reader
-
Over a year ago now I had the eml light come on twice in 2 weeks - just stopped, turned off the engine and restarted and light went out - no problems. Difference to poster's situation was that it went into limp mode.
Strange but no recurrence - codes were checked and no problems found
-
I reckon they must be programmed at the factory from new for the light to come on,just to get £25 out of you every time you put it on the tech 2.

Hi and welcome :) My EML light is on all the time and doesn't affect the car at all - more than likely the pre-cat sensors as advised earlier in the post. Need to get mine fixed as I am not sure it will pass the MOT with this light on :(

Whats the code? Easy enough to count the flashes, post the results and someone will tell you the problem no doubt. :-)
