Title: engine note!
Post by: vauxsull on 01 April 2009, 20:36:12
The 2.5 cdx pre face lift I had used to have the V6 sounding engine note to it if you can understand that? but my face lift 2.6 MV6 sounds silky smooth. Is this down to the exhaust system?

Noticed on my 3.2 mv6 that you can hear the roar at about 4500 revs once it gets going.

The reason I ask this is because my wife drove the car yesterday and I didn't hear it go past me and I was only feet away? but the 2.5 was very audible and I liked the sound it made....

Ive always thought the 2.6 and 3.2 facelift engines are quieter anyway.

well even though the engine is only a little bit larger in cc surly it shouldn't make any difference to the exhaust note? this isn't a complaint realy just an obsevation...

Did you have an aftermarket exhaust on your old one and have a genuine exhaust on this one?

It was a genuine exhaust on the old 2.5 and a genuine one on the present 2.6..

get the misses to drive pass a bit harder on the throttle, the engines are quiet and civilised at low revs, but above about 4000 revs they come alive, and sound gorgeous . 8-)

perhaps different air filter? try for a moment with open air filter box, or with no filter at all...
