Post by: Richard148 on 04 April 2009, 15:16:27
hi all i have a squeaking noise on the drivers side when I'm driving (very annoying)it sounds a bit more like Ive got a bird tweeting away in the wheel arch it doesn't seem to be coming from the pads any ideas?

Personally I would first jack that side up the car up and see if you can replicate the sound whilst turning the wheels.  That way you can either identify where the sound is coming from, or eliminate the wheels as the problem and start looking elsewhere. ;)

Ive tried doing that but no joy and the sound may only replicate at a higher rpm to create resonating frequency

If it is front off side or r/o/s, have you checked that when turning your wheel hub the a) pads aren't intermittently touching / catching the disc? b) the disc is not warped?

When were your brakes last serviced?

Drop links? Years ago my Carlton would squeak at low speeds over uneven ground. Try bouncing the car, but by lifting the wing rather than pushing down on it.
