Depends if pattern is good enough, got a lot in paypal at the moment so I want to stock up to do the valve stem seals & exhaust manifolds in the summer.

So every few weeks I'll buy a few parts :y

Payern not pattern :-[

When His Holiness 'assisted' me with my HG, he advised me what to get:

Some Elring HG and valve stem seals (£20 from eGay)
Cam Cover Gasket set (genuine) (£60 ish from OOF shop)
Exhaust gasket (genuine - multilayer type) (few £ each)
o ring for coolant trasfer pipe
dowty washers for coolant bridge
sealing washers for oil cooler pipes

Additional things to consider whilst there:
cambelt and waterpump
replacing or resealing stat

Doubt you'd have time to strip to that far, refurb heads, and refit?

MDTM - not exactly the slowest person here - spent from 8:30am - 7pm ish just replacing my HGs and stat :o, and he had preprepared a set of heads to go on

Yep

Manifold to front pipe gaskets (2 copper flake type seals)
Oil cooler sealent (grey goo in a small cartridge tube)
Anti freeze
Oil
Oil Filter

Get a couple of spare hollow bolts from a breaker for the oil cooler pipes/coolant bridge pipes (never needed any yet but, you dont want to get caught wanting)

Oil cooler pipes to cooler metal washers (4 off)
Coolant bridge dowty washers (4 off)
Coolant pipe to block seal (1 off)

Is the crank seal ok? (any sign of oil round the oil pump)

If I remember, I will post the above part numbers up this evening

Then its cleaning stuff.

Emery cloth
Wet and dry
Valve grinding paste plus grinding stick (the rubber perishes on these so if you ahve an old one then check it)
Paint stripper + an old paint brush
Plenty of old cloths and rags.

Worth getting an Aux belt idler wheel (for the tensioner) or at the least re-greasing the bearings in the original.
