Title: cam cover gasket
Post by: djdaveyp85 on 11 April 2009, 15:49:34
I think my cam cover gasket has started to leak on the left hand bank. changed the spark plugs today and there was a little bit of oil in the cylinder 2 plug well, approximatly half a cm. Is it an easy job to undertake myself? Most i have done so far is flush the coolant system and change the spark plugs and replace an o-ring on the plenum.

Are there any other possibilities of the problem or would it definitly be the cam cover?

Also if i replace the cam cover gaskets should i do both sides of the engine or is it ok to do just one?

And last of my million questions is... is there anybody near who fancies giving me a hand for some beer vouchers one weekend?

Thanks in advance for all your help :)

It's really a false economy to just do the leaking side, do the pair and remember to give the breathers a good clean out when you do as they are the cause of the leak.

i gave my engine a good clean, changed the gaskets, and fitted several new bits.
took me about 3 hours in total
