Again!! This seems to be about once a month now. The little fella is always coming home with a lousy head. The bloody lotion stinks the house out, and, of course, it's dads job :(
-
Tea tree shampoo seems to work well as a repellant.
We had a similar problem with our two till Carol started to use tea tree on them, no probs since.

Seem to remember you can use neat tea tree oil to kill em too, but it smells a bit.

I'm fresh out of tea tree oil ;D
But gallons of Full Marks :(

Derpack M, to kill them and then as already said Teatree shampoo.
Also if you use Teatree conditioner that stops them hanging on in the first place ;)

Yup, they don't have Nitty Nora nowadays you know.

I seems they are not allowed to have nit nurses - schools are rife for nits and thread worms now, as there are no school nurses and for health reasons the tap water is boiling so a lot of children don't wash their hands.
Mine do BTW, and they complain at the pooers who don't >:(

If you had them you wouldn't shave them - just shave the chavs who bring them in in the first place

This is true.
I went to the chemist for some lotion for head lice. Where is it for? said the nice lady. Ermmm.....on the head, I said. Noooooo, she said, which district do you live in? We have different lotions for each area as the little blighters become immune after a couple of treatments. Scary.

You are totally misinformed Martin. It is nothing to do with personal hygiene.

Actually i hate to admit this......but i agree with STMO on this .... ;D ;)
Headlice prefer clean hair.......thats a fact :y
SO shave em......no hair...no headlice :y :D
-
Headlice are not fussy at all they will live in clean or indeed dirty hair!! I watched a programme where this guy put lot's of beasties on and in his body and some of the things he experimented with was lice.
He tried to keep them on his head for quite a few weeks to see how many he would end up with.Even after shaving his hair he still had about 50 left on his head :o
My daughter gets them now and again and we wash her hair..slap on plenty of conditioner and then comb through with a nit comb.I then go through her hair bit by bit removing any eggs.We do this every other night for approx 2 weeks to catch the ones that hatch out after about a week.
We have used the lice lotion and there are some nice smelling ones "Full Marks" is a good one you put the lotion onto dry hair leave for 10mins..wash off then comb through. It works well but unfortunatley leaves my daughters hair looking rather greasy :(

They tend to not stay in nit combe hair, or teatree hair
So where do they come from - I reckon chavs
-
After shampooing use a decent conditioner for dry hair ... this will "coat" the hair and prevent the eggs from sticking to the hairs.
DO NOT shampoo/wash daily .. this strips the coating of the hair ... nits do not infest greasy hair as they don't stick to it... more nits in "clean" hair than "dirty" hair ...
How do I know all this .... ?? SWMBO is a primary school teaching assistant ... and they have loads of nit problems since the "nit nurse" became politically incorrect
:(

Chavs?
Chav, also Charv/Charver and Chavette (pronounced /[ch679]æv/, with 'ch' as in chair) are mainly derogatory slang terms in the United Kingdom for a subcultural stereotype fixated on fashions derived from American hip hop such as imitation gold, poorly made jewellery and fake designer clothing, combined with elements of working class British street fashion. The term appeared in mainstream dictionaries in 2005

Our girls kept coming home with them got really annoyed.
Mrs tried everything but she was told about using Listerine Mouth Wash the blue one, Cool Mint.
She bought an empty spray bottle, and put undiluted mouthwash in it, sprayed it on the head soaking the scalp, put a shower cap on, as that heats it up, letting it dry into the hair.
When its dry rinse with warm water then comb through with a "Nitty Gritty Comb".
The combs are dear but well worth the money, you can get them off ebay or Asda Pharmacy sell them at about £9.99 but they are brilliant :y
After using this mouthwash you should find the Nits are all dead, the Nitty Gritty Comb pulls the eggs out.
You can then make up a weak solution of mouthwash and water spraying it on every other day, this should stop getting them again.
Hope this helps

Just told the wife. She says thanks. ;D
I really wish she never had head lice though. :-[

Honestly Martin Denise has tried all the different stuff from the chemist, Ly Clear, Full Marks and stuff she can't remember the names of, all of which she had to sit for back break hours going through strand by strand with tweazers and an ordinary nit conbs. But with this stuff and one of these Nitty Gritty Combs she does none of that. :y

Yep, Cathy has done the same. Seems like the little tinkers become immune to the various pesticides. She has written down your instructions and will give it a try.
I agree with Jaime, we never had this when we were at school. I don't know where they come from. Still, if nothing else the kid's hair won't have bad breath. ;D

I remember a nurse coming around the primary school checking our hair, but don't actually remember anyone having them. I have always thought people with dirty hair get them but apparently not!
Denise says they are supposed to be bring back the nurse at primary schools :y
