Hi guys
I thought their was a seprate piece before the rad ?,  :-[  been told this would need to be check due to the main compresser clucth does not engage by switching on, heat being brought into the car and cooled air as well, not masses but its their, ok not been gased in ages and i have checked the fuses, even replaced, could it be just low on gas, i think their is a sencer switch within the compresser to stop damage, am i right lads
Thanks guys for your help  :y :y

Yep, if low on gas then the compressor is shut off by the low pressure switch.

Get the gas pressure measured, if there is sign of some still in it then get it re-gassed, if none then find the leak  :y (and the condenser is the favourite)

Can I just point out a legal issue connected to air con.... If you are caught releasing A/C gasses directly out into the atmosphere you are looking at a certain jail sentence!!! ALWAYS take it to your local gasser to get it drained properly!!!

I do appologise for hijaking this thread but I have an issue with my air con.
Had the air con regassed, twice, and give it a day and its all gone. the air con system has been pressure tested and no leaks, could this be the air con rad as well or something different?

Did you have the UV tracer added? If you  did get the gasser to go over the system (inside the car too) very carefully, it has got to have gone somewhere :P There is an alternative gas to the standard Freon but can't think of it of the top of my head.

I don't know if that was done but it only last not even 12 hours  :(

12 hours? Any gasser worth their salts and not wanting a stretch of bird shouldn't have filled it up knowing it would loose the gas that fast! Did they vacuum test it first?

Well what they said to me was that they pressure tested and there were no leaks. When they brought the car back to me the air con pipes were very very cold. On my way home from Newbury it was still cold, by the time I got to Thatcham the air con was no more. 20 mins if i remember correctly.
I will get it checked again properly soon. The trouble is they didn't know neither did I as fit you up (yes I know) didn't refit the black caps back on.
