Retrace your steps matey.....whats been taken off, whats not in correct ? IACV completely flush and in position for example ?
-
checked everything. ran out of idea`s. :(

Sounds like MAF sensor problem, have you checked the plug is fully pushed home ect..?

Air leak, was the plenum off?
Brake servo pipe ok and connected, no O rings missing or displaced between the plenum and inlet?

plenum was off to do the cam seals. O rings seem ok.

John has just been on the phone, asked him to do a paperclip test.
Sounds like he has the following codes..
13, 16, 17, 19
-
But did he run the engine whilst doing the test?
Paul :y

Trapped lambda and knock sensor wires maybe :question

I did ask if he had any wires trapped

And :D
-
He says he cant see any
Just before anyone says it... no I have not done the car ;D
-
i would be suprised if the MAf was at fault the v6s seem to run okish with the maf D/C they just cut out on the overun cutoff sometimes!!! the same as a crank sensor fault!
-
Knock sensor wire trapped wouldn`t cause uneven idle. What about the carb spray trick to definately rule out vac leaks :-/

Right.....is the DIS pack connected correctly to the 2-4-6 bank?

i got the torch on the dis pack and did 1 lead at a time to make sure it was in the right loction and then checked it over and over again
it revs and picks up instant and is fine
the eco tech part ontop of the penium was leaking air from what i could tell and when was took off the little rubber seal on the bottom was no good and the whole lot was blocked
couldn't replace seal on the bottom as no stock at vauxhall till tomorrow
i dont know if john and gary changed it from the other mig as i had to go back home

you could here it leaking air
i did say aload of times and gary agreed with me

The knock sensor issues aside (which won't affect idle), sounds like an air leak.
-
But did he run the engine whilst doing the test?
Paul :y
With the codes provided, wouldn't make a difference.

John, Is it leaking from there still or did you manage a fix :question
-
cant get the new O rings until the morning, did have a look at taking the ones off the 2.5 but as it has the short plenum i didnt fancy taking all the throttle off. the 2.5 is being collected in the morning(sold) so i dont want to bugger it up tbh.

put the new seals on tomorrow and take it from there mate
when i had it ticking over you could still here the air leak really bad
and it was coming from the eco tec thing on top of the plenium
see how it goes when the new seals go on
come on skype as well

Did you replace the seal at the base of the plenum breather box? Are you getting a hissing sound?
If that seal was knackered it DEFINITELY needs changing; when I did my camcovers and breathers I had the same problem. replacing the seal sorted it right out.

Nope - not the o rings, but the seal between the black plastic ecotec breather box that sits on top of the plenum.
If that seal is poor, then extra air gets into the mixture and the idle gets very lumpy, along with random misfires. I'm willing to bet it's that - although you will hear a hissing from the plenum as it's sucking in air, and it should be pretty loud.

i have these new seals coming in the morning, i hope this will sort the prob out. :y

The other problem could be if the timing is out when the cambelt was fitted, not saying that it was done wrong or anything, but the timing needs to be be spot on with these engines as TB pointed out to me when he done my cambelt replacement last year at Telford. Just a thought Jon.

fitted new seals. got it running to a fashion, had to pull throttle cable out to the max on adjustment. its just managing to keep going at 400rpm although lumpy. seems it has no idle control to me, anymore idea`s welcome please. am off to do another paperclip test now. :( codes 132 & 133. ? have i read this right. :-?
