Title: Help - Should I Panic Now Or Later
Post by: Swampey on 18 April 2009, 22:37:46
Guys & Gals

Few months ago, had to call the RAC to recover the car, Cam shaft sensor had gone south... anyway go the car to the garage and they advised me to get a new battery as the one I had was leaking

Today while down in the garage I just thought Id pop the hood and have a look around...

I am shocked to find 2 things... 1st theres some oil around the plastic breather pipe...you know the big black one on the left into the trottle body....

And second.. seems that the muppet who changed the last battery did do a good job or cleaning the mess up before putting a replacement in... any ideas how to get rid of that white chalkie battery stuff

I have noticed that theres battery acid could be eating away at some of the paint work...

Someone please  guide me before I go screwing this up.. I am planning in the morning to remove battery and check for leakage... clean any battery acid from body work by means of a wire brush and pressure washer...
Treat any effected areas with some rust proctection....... then remove at big black pipe, clean inspect and refit if not replace

Last time we did that, Robin Hood couldn't receive PMs ::)

We can't really disallow American speak, just because they have modified the Queens English.  Txt speak, well there is no excuse for that on the internet.
