good evening folks, having trouble with my miggy, the tickover is fluctuating between 1000rpm and 1800rpm, the ecu light is on, and the engine will only rev to 4500rpm when the limiter cuts in ! I have done the paper clip test and the results were inconclusive, but that maybe down to my interpretation of the flashes, i have tried a replacement idle control valve, i have tried a airflow meter, i have removed and unblocked all the breathers, i have also replaced the exhaust manifold gasket and had to remove the catalytic converter because it had come loose inside and kept blocking the system. help ! :'( :'(

Redo the paperclip test and post up the sequence of flashes :y

Post what you got anyway - may give someone a clue

i will have another go at the paper clip test and post my results , than cheers dude. :)

my guess it that its either the crank sensor or cam sensor. Can't remember which one on the 4pot gives the 'can't rev above 4500' symptom
-
must be cam sensor..

I would say cam sensor

looks like crank sensor and cam sensor are throwing codes as well as the air intake temp.
Is it worth checking to see that the wiring is intact and all plugs pushed fully home? looks odd to get three faults at the same time which makes me suspect dodgy wiring
-
thanx for the advice guys, i will have a look at the connectors and the wiring tomorrow, fingers crossed ! :)

guessing crank (0335) and cam (0340) sensors. cleaning won't do jack. Do use genuine sensors.

good evening folks, i have done some tinkering with the wiring to the crankshaft sensor and i found that the 3 wires going into the sensor were exposed with no insulation round them and the end of the sensor was brittle and breaking up ihave made a temporary repair and the new codes read very similar. Also one of the wires going to the camshaft sensor was exposed. :-/
