http://homepage.ntlworld.com/andrew.reynolds983/Manuals/Omega2002Manual.pdf
Page 223 and 224 .. which give vastly different figures
Now I use the figures off P224 as the 2200 agrees with the VIN plate on the car !!
So from those figures
Your miggy 3.2 MV6 Estate has a kerb weight of 2305 Kgs (5071 lbs)
Recommended normal towing ratio is 85% = 1959 Kgs (4310 lbs)
1.7 tons is 1731 kgs (3808 lbs) so you are safe .. :) as the "tail will NOT wag the dog"
Just my interpretation .. thats all.. :)

I wouldn't tow anymore than 1500kg with an Omega.

Got to include what's in the caravan as well. ie. Beer, wine, BBQ more beer, more wine and oh yes, some clothes so you don't frighten the locals.
So, weight of van plus contents up to 85%.
Is my interpretation correct :-?

suppose best thing to do is take it to a public weigh bridge and check it out :question

forgot about the beer and beer im stuffed then

Vans have a maximum laden weight quoted MTPLM (Max Total Permitted Laden Mass) and the makers also quote a "Mass In Running Order" - MIRO .. this is the 'van fully equiped but with no personal stuff .. the difference is supposed to be what you put in to eat, drink and wear !!
The 85% is a recomendation for inexperienced towers. Legally you can tow to 100% .. but IMHO you would be stupid to do so.
I tow a 'van with an MTPLM of 1630 Kgs on a very regular basis with out any problems at all.

Tow a twin axle pikey wagon with 1760Kg MTPLM here without any problems. Alko hitch makes a difference & take care loading car & van. I weighed car & van separate the first time I loaded to check I was ok and the van only came in at 1660Kg, car was about 2200Kg. Load at 70Kg nose weight.
Best tow car I've ever had :)

Tow vehicle weight equal to what's being towed. Personally wouldn't go there. Agree with Entwood. Might be legal, but so is drinking beer within the limit and then driving. Either way, both affect safety and perception to be ok.
Anyone out there, on line who's got what cmd has got. Look up the data in owners hand book. Should tell what vx say is max.
Hope all helps.

Tried that link, wouldn't load for me. Anyone else have the same problem?
Think what we are all saying is. Don't pull something too heavy.
Or what my old Dad told me when I was single. Don't pull what you can't handle and regret in the morning ;D

done that once and im still stuck with it :'(
