Title: Starting Problems
Post by: Vmax on 21 April 2009, 12:43:26
Hello all. I am trying to get my 2.5 elite back on the road after an rta.
Its been laid up for six months. It drove Ok after the accident but is dead now. I have changed the battery and checked fluids etc. I get nothing when I turn the key, not even a click. All of the appropriate dash lights come on when I turn the key and the radio central locking and lights work fine. Any ideas please - I thought maybe the starter motor may be stuck??

Yes it could indeed be stuck.

I had the same on another car after I drove though deep water. Left overnight it stuck and the solenoid would not kick in so I didn't hear the click when it usually does. Removal, cleaning, refitting fixed it.

Also make sure your leads to the battery are clean and connected on properly.
Also try a paperclip test incase its an immobiliser problem.
