I’m still working through the little niggles that I inherited when I bought my MV6. I’ve fixed the highlight warning message (the front senor had seized and come loose) but the brake pad warning remains. The pads are nearly new, so I'm guessing that the old set wore down too far and the sensors got a bit hot or something?
Anyway - I am presuming that there is a sensor on both of the front brakes? Is there anyway to tell which sensor is broken? Or should I just replace both?

You can unplug the connector up in the wheel arch and short either one out (or both then the warning will go away..) to test.
I think later cars (all facelifts, not sure) only have the one anyway, others have two.

I have only one and when I was replacing old brake pads, there was no way to get that sensor of the brake pad. It is some kind of porcelain or some shit... my one crashed into the powder when i tried to pull it out of the brake pad. New one costs around £10 otherwise you will keep getting that warning message.

I'd just replace both sensors (must have 2 sensors if its a 3.0 as its pre 2001)

I replaced mine. About a tenner for the pair from local motor factors :y

Facelifts only have the one sensor fitted (nearside) but mine has got the wiring for the other side (its just blanked off). Everytime i've replaced the front pads i've always needed to repace the sensor (about £10 from VX) They just seem to go brittle and crumble when you try to take them off the old pad. This time around i managed to brake the new one (Ham fisted i guess. any way i could'nt be bothered to buy another new one so i choped the wire off (leaving a couple of inches) and joined the two wires together. I'll just check for ware every 5K

Brilliant stuff chaps - got two new ones from the motor factors, took the wheels off and fitted the one - went round to do the other and it was the wrong type. Not sure how they managed that but I think Ill just join the wires on the one side and take back the sensor. Should save me an extra £7 next time it goes - ha!
