Hi guys, over the last week my car has twice been revving on its own. First time it did it the car took quite a while to start and then the revs were much higher than normal about 2 - 2.5k, when I started driving the revs were staying up and pushing the car along even under breaking. The car did similar last night, I put it into neutral and the revs gradually came down. Obviously i'm now worried about this as I don't want to have an accident cause the car is pushing me under breaking. Any ideas on what could be causing this?
On a positive note it seems that my coolant leak has stopped or slowed considerably so have got some time to get prepared to sort the thermostat out :y
Cheers,
Richard

Depends on the model of your car and engine size. You should really edit your profile to say to save a lot of identical questions in the future ;) I'd say AICV needs cleaning as a start :y

what engine ? Fill in your profile details, it saves everyone keep asking.
Probably air leak on inlet.

Sounds like the idle control valve and breathers need a good cleaning.
You need to update your profile so that it can be seen exactly what model you're driving

Sorry guys i'm sure I had put the details in before, not sure what happened there. Its a 3.0 Auto, I will have to check the breathers and ICV although they were clear last time I checked. Also when I start the car it takes a few turns to fire up and then runs a little bit rough for a few seconds, could this have have something to do with it?
Cheers,
Richard

I cant help with how to solve it but my 1st car did that. My only advice is dont stop to close to Zebra crossings, I nearly killed an old lady!!!!!
